At a glance: Race Car Swap charges the lower of 14.9% + $0.30 (min $4.30) or $149 + 6% on each completed sale. The fee base is the item price plus buyer-paid shipping and excludes sales tax. This fee helps cover payment processing and marketplace operations. No listing or monthly fees. Eligible buyers may see Affirm (Buy Now, Pay Later) at checkout for orders over $250 (subject to eligibility).

What the Fee Covers

Secure Payments (Stripe)

Payment processing via Stripe (processing costs are covered by the platform fee).
Escrow-style holds until delivery confirmation or auto-release after carrier “Delivered”.
Compliance, tokenization, and PCI-grade security handled by Stripe.

Trust & Safety

Fraud prevention and risk checks.
Dispute evidence coordination (tracking, listing details, photos).
Policy enforcement and account safety reviews.

Platform & Support

Site hosting, uptime, and performance.
Feature development and maintenance.
Customer support for buyers and sellers.

Marketing & Growth

Product discovery & promotion across the site and social media.
Campaigns and content across social media to bring buyers to your listings.

How the Fee Is Calculated

Fee base: Item price + buyer-paid shipping (tax excluded).
Fee: The lower of (14.9% × (item + shipping)) + $0.30 (minimum $4.30) or $149 + (6% × (item + shipping)).
If an order is canceled before shipment/pickup, no fee is charged.
If an issue order is fully refunded, the fee is reversed. For partial refunds, the fee is adjusted proportionally.
Some sellers may have a promotional platform-fee percent. Unless stated otherwise, the lower-of cap logic still applies.

Examples

Example A:

Item: $1,000, Shipping: $0 → Fee base = $1,000
Option A: (14.9% × $1,000) + $0.30 = $149.30
Option B: $149 + (6% × $1,000) = $209.00
Fee = lower of both = $149.30
Seller receives ≈ $1,000 − $149.30 = $850.70

Example B:

Item: $10,000, Shipping: $0 → Fee base = $10,000
Option A: (14.9% × $10,000) + $0.30 = $1,490.30
Option B: $149 + (6% × $10,000) = $749.00
Fee = lower of both = $749.00
Seller receives ≈ $10,000 − $749.00 = $9,251.00

Why a Lower-of Fee Structure?

We keep smaller orders simple with a single, all-in percentage and protect larger orders with a cap so the platform’s take remains reasonable on high-value items.
