Buying

How do payments work?
We use Stripe for secure checkout. Funds are held in escrow and released when you click Mark as Received. For carrier shipments with tracking, funds may auto-release after 72 hours of a Delivered scan if you take no action. For Local Pickup, please click Mark as Received after the handoff.

Eligible buyers may see Affirm (Buy Now, Pay Later) at checkout for orders over $250 (availability depends on buyer eligibility and Stripe).

When will I receive tracking?
For shipped orders, sellers add the carrier and tracking number after they ship. Local Pickup orders do not use carrier tracking.
What should I do when the package arrives or after local pickup?
Inspect the item right away. If everything looks good, click Mark as Received. If there’s a problem, report it within 72 hours of delivery or pickup.
What if the item isn’t as described?
Report the issue within 72 hours with photos/video. We may facilitate a partial refund or a return-for-refund. See Buyer Protection.

Selling

How do I get paid?
Connect a Stripe Express account. Payouts release when the buyer clicks Mark as Received, or for tracked shipments, may auto-release 72 hours after Delivered if the buyer takes no action.
What is the platform fee?
We charge the lower of (a) 14.9% + $0.30 (min $4.30) or (b) $149 + 6% on the fee base, which is item price + buyer-paid shipping (tax excluded). The fee is deducted from the seller’s proceeds and helps cover payment processing and marketplace operations.
Why should I pay a seller fee when other sites are free?
Free classifieds and social media marketplaces mostly just show your ad. You’re usually on your own to collect money, track who paid what, and sort out problems in DMs.

On Race Car Swap, your seller fee helps cover:
  • Funds marketing that brings more racers to Race Car Swap—meaning more real buyers seeing your listing (ads, search traffic, and email promotions).
  • Integrated, secure payments through Stripe (cards and, on eligible orders, Affirm/Klarna/Cash App)
  • Escrow-style payments where funds are held while the seller ships
  • A defined 72-hour window for buyers to inspect and report issues
  • Order IDs, receipts, addresses, and tracking in one place instead of scattered screenshots
  • Ongoing platform development, support, and marketing focused solely on race car parts and equipment

Who pays for shipping and who buys the label?
For shipped orders, the buyer pays the shipping amount you set on the listing and you buy the label. For Local Pickup, coordinate a safe meet-up—no carrier is used.

Shipping & Local Pickup

Who is responsible for delivery or pickup?
The seller. They must ship to the correct order address and upload tracking for shipped orders, or coordinate the in-person handoff for Local Pickup. See Shipping Info.
Can the shipping address be changed after purchase?
Ship only to the order address. If the buyer needs a change, cancel and re-order with the correct address.

Returns & Issues

Do you accept returns?
Returns are only accepted for verified issue orders (e.g., wrong item, significant undisclosed damage). We don’t accept returns for items that match the listing description and condition.
What is the issue reporting window?
72 hours from the time of delivery or local pickup. Provide photos/video and your order ID.

Payments, Fees & Tax

Is my payment information secure?
Yes — payments are handled by Stripe. Race Car Swap never stores full card numbers.
How are taxes handled?
When applicable, sales tax is calculated and collected automatically based on the shipping address.
