At a glance: Race Car Swap uses Stripe for secure payments and Stripe Connect (Express) for seller payouts. Buyers pay at checkout; funds are held in escrow and released when the buyer clicks Mark as Received. For carrier shipments, funds may auto-release within 72 hours after the carrier shows Delivered if the buyer takes no action.

How Payments Work on Race Car Swap

Checkout: Buyers pay securely through Stripe. Card details are handled by Stripe — not stored on Race Car Swap servers.
Authorization / Capture: We authorize the buyer’s card at checkout and capture funds according to our shipping & delivery flow.
Escrow-style hold: Funds are held until delivery is confirmed by the buyer or auto-released 72 hours after Delivered for tracked shipments.
Platform fee: We charge the lower of 14.9% + $0.30 of the fee base (min $4.30) or $149 + 6% of the fee base. The fee base is item price + buyer-paid shipping (tax excluded).
Automatic Tax: When applicable, sales tax is calculated/collected using Stripe’s tax tools based on the shipping address.

Trust, Security & Compliance

Stripe security

Stripe is widely used with industry-standard security and compliance. Transactions run over encrypted connections, and sensitive payment data is tokenized and handled by Stripe’s infrastructure.

Your privacy

Race Car Swap does not see or store card numbers. We receive non-sensitive references from Stripe (e.g., payment intent/session IDs) to manage orders and payouts.

Disputes & chargebacks

Card-issuer disputes are processed through Stripe. We’ll help coordinate evidence (photos, tracking, listing details) as needed.

Fraud protection

We may pause orders or withhold payouts if we detect signs of fraud or abuse and may request additional verification.

Seller Payouts (Stripe Connect Express)

Onboarding: Sellers connect a Stripe Express account for payouts.
Payout timing: After funds are released (buyer received/auto-release for tracked shipments), Stripe transfers the seller’s net proceeds per Stripe’s payout schedule.
Access your account: Connected sellers can view balances, payouts, and tax info via Stripe Express dashboards.

FAQ

Do you store card details?

No — Stripe handles all sensitive payment information. We only receive references to manage the order lifecycle.

When do sellers get paid?

When the buyer clicks Mark as Received; for tracked shipments, funds may auto-release 72 hours after Delivered if no action is taken.

How are taxes handled?

Stripe’s automated tax tools calculate and collect applicable sales tax using the shipping address.

What if there’s a chargeback?

The dispute is routed through Stripe and the card network. We’ll help gather evidence (tracking, photos, listing details).

Do you support Buy Now, Pay Later?

Yes — eligible buyers may see Affirm (Buy Now, Pay Later) at checkout for orders over $250. Availability depends on buyer eligibility, location, and Stripe.
